Rainy Days

So the weather was amazing yesterday and it got a lot worse today. It’s been raining all day pretty much, which makes for a lousy day. I’ve not really done a lot today because I haven’t had any motivation. I really need to do my homework. I need to study for tests, and all that stuff. I don’t know why rainy days make me so unmotivated. I’m going to have to find something to motivate me to get some work done this weeekend. If I don’t get much done tonight I probably won’t get much done at all. I’m helping

Amazing Weather in Tigerville! Where?

The weather here has been amazing this week. It’s been a little colder than normal, but it’s felt good overall. Today there was no wind and it was comfortable. That is what I love so much about the fall. Sitting outside reading a book, or just hanging out with friends. It’s amazing! So school has been going well so far. It’s almost fall break and I am ready for a break. School has been busy for me, but it’s not been horrbile if that makes any sense. I’ve not had a lot of papers to write, but it’s been a lot of mass comm work like editing, graphics, and audio production stuff. I lovemy  major, but sometimes it makes me mad when things don’t work. Like the other day I was just trying to capture the news that we recorded on Tuesday. Well it didn’t work on any of the computers or cameras that we had down in the mass comm. department. It’s times like those that I wish I were at a bigger school, but at the same time I am thankful to be at North Greenville. It’s smaller and doesn’t always have the best equipment, but it’s a greart enviroment and a biblically based school. I am thankful for that for sure.

Tonight my plan is to go to bsu at seven, which is in a few more mins. and then come back to the room to study or hang out with friends. I really don’t have a whole lot of homework so that is a good thing. Well just wanted to give ya’ll an update of how things are going. Things are great!

Pride

Tonight in Fusion we talked about Pride.

Wikipedia defines pride as “a lofty view of one’s self or one’s own. Pride often manifests itself as a high opinion of one’s nation (national pride), ethnicity (ethnic pride), or appearance and abilities (vanity). Pride is considered a negative attribute by most major world religions, but some philosophies consider it positive. The opposite of pride is humility.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride)

As Jody was talking tonight I began to think about my personal pride. I know so many times I feel like I am a good person and in many times a better person becuase I am a christian who does all the religious practices. I look down on people who aren’t like me because I think i’m “it” or “big stuff” or “super christian.” Why do I do this? Well the answer is simple. I have pride in my life. The thing that bothers me about my pride is that it’s hard to control. It’s like i’m chewing people out everyday without ever even saying anything. I constantly nag about people to my friends or my nagging about them in my thoughts.

We looked at a few verses in the book of 1st Peter. Here is what the bible says about pride.

1 And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: 2 Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. 3 Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. 4 And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.

5 In the same way, you younger men must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, serve each other in humility, for

“God opposes the proud
but favors the humble.”[a]

6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

I know in my life I need to work on my pride issues. We all do as far as I can tell. In Luke 18:14b it says “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” My prayer is that you allow God to humble yourself so that He can use you for service. As we talked about moving from self to service and now we are talking about moving from pride to humility in fusion. I hope that we can all become less prideful and more humble. Let’s stop looking down on people and loving them like Christ already loves us.

Global Missions Week

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been busy. School is going well and I have just been doing a lot of work and stuff latley.  Global missions week was this past week. It went well, but I really feel like they focused way too much on the world and not enough about our surroundings and campus. We all know that we are called to share the love of Christ with the world, but we never do anything about it locally. The world includes the people we go to school with, sit next to in class, drive by on the side of the road, live with in our dorms, and everyone. Christians, myself included, are great at doing that. We need to stop so much empasis on them and start sharing the love of Christ with people around us locally.

Here is what the bible says  “16 We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister[f] in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?” - 1st John 3:16 Why do we look at people as if we could care less? Simple we are selfish. Lets say you had your picture taken in a group of 20 people. When you see a copy of that picture for the first time who is the first person that you look for?

Yourself right? Yes, we are selfish. We need to stop being selfish and start loving people as Christ would love them. I know so many times in my life I am so quick to point a finger. I need to do what I am telling you to do so i’m talking to myself as well as you. Compassion for the world means that we can’t be selfish anymore as Christians. We are called by God to share the greatest story in the world. Let’s do it!

Mid-Week Music Video

I’ve mentioned the band Philmont a few times on my blog before. If you didn’t know already from reading the previous posts wll the guys are from my hometown of Charlotte, NC. They started off as a garage band who just wanted to jam, and turns out they are now on a major record label, on tour with bands like pillar, Addison Road, and our hearts hero. They are making it big. Something else that they have been working on is music videos. They have one finalized and they will be making another one sometime soon.

The Difference- Oh Snap EP (Avalible on iTunes or at one of their shows)
